We are pleased to present the 29th edition of the San Miguel de Allende International Jazz and Blues Festival. One of the most prominent and longest-running Festivals of its kind in Mexico and one of the most important in Latin America.

Thursday, November 16, DOCUMENTAL AND CONVERSATION WITH THE ARTIS at Centro Cultural El Nigromante, Bellas Artes, Hernandez Macias #75, Centro, at 12:00 hrs.

Free Activity, we will have a documentary by Bret Primack.

Bret Primack, a graduate of New York University Film School, where he studied with Martin Scorsese, worked in documentaries before becoming a music journalist. In addition to hundreds of articles and interviews, Bret has written liner notes for McCoy Tyner, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Lovano and many others. Bret has been at the forefront of new media since he co-founded Jazz Central Station, the first Jazz website, in 1994. When YouTube debuted in 2006, he began posting videos as the Jazz Video Guy. Now, with fourteen hundred and fifty videos online garnering thirty million views. Bret has the largest YouTube channel devoted to Jazz. We will have a conversation prior to the projection of the documentary with Bret, where he will share his experience and you could ask some questions about his work. He will be presenting a documentary dedicated to the most iconic saxophonists in the jazz scene and an interview with Ray Charles. Do not miss it!

– Thursday 16th, BLUES CONCERT at El Sindicato, Cultural Center, Recreo #4, Centro at 5:00 pm.

Craig Caffall, Blues Band. Caffall has shared the stage with some notable artists including Bo Diddley, John Mayall, David Clayton Thomas, Cyril & Charles Neville (Neville Bros.), Lee Oskar, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Wier, and Steve Earle, just to name a few. He has also been touring with Shana Morrison (daughter of Van Morrison) for the past 6 years up and down the west coast of the United States.

Caffall has played guitar with legendary blues singer Maria Muldaur for almost 20 years, touring the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Japan.

– Friday 17th, FUNK CONCERT at Casa Europa, San Francisco #23, Centro, at 5:00 pm.

“F-Mack” Funk Music. F-MACK is a singer/songwriter and performer of R&B, Jazz, Gospel, and Pop from Haiti. With advanced education in Classical and Jazz, F-MACK made his professional debut in 2012 at the International Jazz Festival in Haiti. F-MACK has also performed at the Vive Latino, Bahidora music festivals and the International Jazz and Blues Festival of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. In 2020 he was a semifinalist on La Voz de TV Azteca. The musical program for this afternoon includes Prince’s music, Earth, Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Al Green, among others!

– Saturday 18th, JAZZ CONCERT at Casa Europa, San Francisco #23, Centro, at 5:00 pm.

“Lucy Wijnands Jazz Quartet”, winner of the “ Ella Fitzgerald Competition 2021” in the USA. Wijnands graduated from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, in New York. She has performed with the legendary jazz players Joe Lovano, Kenny Washington, among others, and the “Birdland Big Band.” Lucy’s first album release, “Something Awaits”, features phenomenal pianist Gadi Lehavi. She is one of the most active and prominent singers in New York City.

Sunday 19th, JAZZ, SOUL, BLUES, GOSPEL, COUNTRY AND R&B at Casa Europa, San Francisco #23, Centro, at 5:00 pm.

Tenoch Niño de Rivera and special guests with a “Tribute to Ray Charles”. We could enjoy some of the hits from Ray, ¨Hit The Road Jack”, “Unchain My Hart”, “Georgia In My Mind”, and many others.

Tenoch Niño de Rivera is a jazz and blues singer originally from Mexico City. He was inspired by singers such as Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Mark Murphy, and Kurt Elling. He has played with Joe D’Ha’s Big Band, on various stages in Mexico City, with other musicians with great experience.He was a finalist in the international program “La Voz”, Mexico.

Antonio Lozoya will be in charge of this project, on bass and musical direction, with his group “Jazz & Blues Collective” with the participation of some artists from past concerts.
