It is located 5 kilometers from the city of Guanajuato; environmental education and training activities are carried out here.

It has facilities and equipment for recreation and ecotourism activities such as bird watching, hiking, camping, excursions, picnics, landscape photography, and mountain biking, among others. It also has 2 spacious and comfortable rooms for work meetings with coffee and food service.

The Center for Visitors’ Attention and Environmental Education “Las Palomas” is a space you should know, alone or with your family. We have gone a couple of times to study, participate in the programmed walks; it is located in the Protected Natural Area “Cuenca de la Esperanza”.

Many of the birds that can be observed in the forest are migratory species, but it is also home to hawks and other native birds such as the peregrine falcon and the horned owl, which unfortunately is threatened.

Likewise, the forest is a habitat for mammals such as white-tailed deer, bobcats, and skunks. The long-nosed bat is a migratory mammal that can also be found here, and its pollinating function is very important for the semidesert areas of Mexico.

Every first Sunday of the month, the traditional “Family Walk” takes place, where in a tour of approximately 5 kilometers, attendees learn about the flora and fauna of the area in first contact.

The cost to participate is 90 pesos per person (includes tour and breakfast), or without food, access is 40 pesos.
