In the heart of the beautiful city of Guanajuato lies the Barrio de Pastita, a charming and traditional corner that invites you to immerse yourself in its fascinating history and vibrant culture. With its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, this neighborhood is a living testament to the past and present of the region.

One of the most outstanding jewels of the Barrio de Pastita is the Plaza San Francisquito de Paxtitlan, a peaceful and welcoming place where you can enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the surroundings. Surrounded by colorful facades and the singing of birds, this square is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy a moment of peace amidst the urban bustle.

But the experience in the Barrio de Pastita goes beyond its streets and squares. Here you will also find the Casa Chávez Morado Museum, located at 158 Pastita Street. This fascinating residence houses an impressive art collection spanning from the 16th to the 18th century, including works by renowned painters José Chávez Morado and Olga Costa. It is a place where tradition and modernity meet, offering a unique view of Guanajuato’s cultural heritage.

Additionally, the Barrio de Pastita is home to the citizen project Proyecto Pastita, which has been recognized for its dedication to caring for and cleaning up the environment. This group of neighbors gathers weekly to clean the banks of the Pastita River and its surroundings, promoting environmental conservation and a sense of community.

On this World Art Day, we want to invite everyone to discover the magic of the Barrio de Pastita and enjoy everything it has to offer. From its art galleries to its natural landscapes, this neighborhood is a treasure that deserves to be explored and appreciated. And we want to congratulate and thank Proyecto Pastita for their commitment to caring for the neighborhood and for their contribution to making Guanajuato a cleaner and more beautiful place for everyone. Let’s celebrate together the rich history and culture of this charming corner of our city!
